Officials at Monett High school are urging angry parents and students to remain calm and not retaliate after it was learned that a water cooler used by the girls basketball team was contaminated with urine from a at least one player from rival school, Cassville, during a game in February. A letter was sent home notifying parents that four Cassville High players urinated into separate cups then poured at least one of the cups into a Monett team cooler.
Monett school officials contacted infectious disease specialists and said a Cassville student will be tested for potential health risks. The Cassville School District confirmed that disciplinary actions were taken and Cassville officials said they didn’t learn about the incident until March 19.
The two schools are located 20 miles apart in southwest Missouri, near the Oklahoma, Kansas and Arkansas border.
