Opening Day for the St. Louis Cardinals is next Monday, April 1, and as the club wraps up spring training, Kevin Wheeler from KMOX joins us on this Google Hangout to preview the season.  Kevin spent the first three weeks in Jupiter with the club and watched many of the young players and saw the depth this team has. The Cardinals’ deep roster will be tested early in the season.

With Chris Carpenter, Rafael Furcal, Jason Motte and David Freese all out on the DL for the start of the season, Kevin and I talk about the challenges the club is faced with early in April. (Freese is expected to only miss a week, Motte’s injury shouldn’t be lenghty).

With the naming of Shelby Miller as the club’s fifth starter, we’ll also look at the rotation and bench for the 2013 season.

We even talk some Miami basketball (Kevin’s alma mater) and Frank Haith at the end.

The Cardinals are giving fans the opportunity to put the finishing touch on the 2013 uniforms by allowing them to decide which color cap the players will wear during road games this season. The team is taking a new approach to gauging fan sentiment by adding a social media polling option to the more traditional web vote.  For the next two days, fans can go online to cardinals.com/redvsblue to vote.
