Speaker of the House Tim Jones is urging Attorney General Chris Koster to appeal the court ruling throwing out the state’s conscience law on contraception insurance coverage. A federal judge says federal law takes precedence over state law…and Missouri’s law is counter to part of the federal healthcare overhaul law. Jones says it’s a religious freedom issue that should let insurance companies refuse to provide contraception insurance if the company morally objects to contraception…or if an employer does. Koster’s spokesman says the ruling is being reviewed.
