Mizzou women one and done in WNIT

March 21, 2013 By Bill Pollock

The first postseason tournament game for the Missouri women’s basketball team under Robin Pingeton ended with a late game collapse as Eastern Illinois finished on an 8-0 run over the final three and a half minutes, to beat the Tigers 60-58 in the opening round of the Women’s NIT at Mizzou Arena.  The loss wraps up the 2012-13 campaign and the third year under head coach Robin Pingeton. The 17 wins this season are the most in the Pingeton era at Mizzou.

The Tigers were led by 12-point performances from senior Sydney Crafton and junior Bri Kulas. Morgan Eye and Liz Smith each turned in nine-point games.  The loss came in Mizzou’s first postseason appearance since the 2006-07 season, and the team fell just short of its first postseason win since a 2002-03 Women’s NIT win in the second round.
