Vancouver Canucks goalie Corey Schneider looked sharp despite not playing in nine days as he helped hold off the St. Louis Blues, who fell short losing 3-2 on the road. Schneider made 32 saves for the win.  The Blues outshot Vancouver 15-3 in the first period, yet the game remained scoreless. In the second period, the Canucks scored three times off rookie Jake Allen. He was making his fourth straight start and suffered just his second loss.

The Blues rallied in the third with goals from Jaden Schwartz and Patrik Berglund, and outshot the Canucks 32-19 for the game. After the game Ken Hitchcock didn’t take any questions and made one brief statement.

“Their best players were better than our best players, and that was the difference in the hockey game. We had great momentum in the first period, and their top players really started to dial it up in the second. We didn’t have an answer for about 10 or 12 minutes. We got great effort from [Vladimir] Sobotka’s line. Other than that we didn’t get much of a push until the end on a couple of lines. At the end of the day, their top players did what they had to do and that was the small difference in the hockey game.”
