Nixon, officials on trade mission to Far East (AUDIO)

March 18, 2013 By [email protected]

Governor Nixon is filling this week of the legislature’s Spring break with a trip to the Far East to drum up more business for Missouri. Nixon has never been to Taiwan or to South Korea before, promoting Missouri exports to those countries.  South Korea already is Missouri’s fourth-largest trading partner.

He and the rest of the party will be in Taiwan for these first two days and then will spend two days in South Korea before getting back next Friday.  Although Missouri imports some things from those two countries, most of the state’s trade is one way, to them. “side”

He has representatives of Missouri commodity groups and agricultural-related industries with him.  Representatives of  five state universities also are on the trip. He says more and more foreign students are coming to Missouri for college, something he sees as important to cementing trade relationships, too.
