Team USA had to rally twice in its must win game against Canada to advance to the next round of the World Baseball Classic in Miami and did so with a 9-4 win on Sunday in Arizona.  The Americans scored three times in the eighth on an Adam Jones two-run double and Shane Victorino’s RBI single to take a 5-3 lead. Canada scored one in the eighth and after the U.S. added an insurance run in the ninth to take a 6-4 lead, Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer delivered the final blow, driving in his first runs in the series with a bases-clearing double off Canada closer John Axford.

Team USA will move on to Marlins Park from Pool D along with Italy to meet the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.  Watch Hosmer’s double courtesy of MLB.com

The U.S. is the top seed out of this bracket heading to Miami and will play at 7 p.m. CT on Tuesday against Puerto Rico. Italy will play the Dominican Republic in the noon game.
