The St. Louis Blues got off to a quick start on Sunday afternoon, but the Dallas Stars rebounded for a 4-1 victory. Derek Roy had a goal and two assists, Erik Cole scored his first goal for Dallas since a trade with the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday, and Loui Eriksson and Jaromir Jagr provided insurance in the third period.
David Perron, who scored two goals against Dallas in the team’s first meeting back on Jan. 26, scored just 4:20 into the game on a nice individual effort. It was Perron’s seventh goal of the season. Brian Elliot, who was making his first start in goal since Feb 11th, took his sixth straight loss.
Dallas tied it 1-1 at 15:49 of the first when Cole beat Elliot with a 15-foot wrister from the slot. After two St. Louis turnovers in their end Cole received a pass from Roy and turned it into a goal. Another turnover gave Dallas the lead with 1:40 left in the period, when T.J. Oshie gave it away to Roy along the boards, who scored from over 30 feet away.
It looked like the Blues scored a tying goal by rookie Adam Cracknell, 8:59 into the third, but the goal was waved off after officials determined he used a kicking motion to score.
St. Louis will face the Kings at Staples Center on Tuesday.
