Wacha impressive in Cardinals win over Mets

February 27, 2013 By Bill Pollock

St. Louis starter Lance Lynn struggled in his Grapefruit League debut, giving up a two-run homer to John Buck in the second as the Cardinals clobbered the New York Mets, 12-4.  Lynn pitched two innings, giving up four hits, walking no one and striking out three. Cardinals prospect Michael Wacha dominated. The young righty struck out five during three shutout innings, in which he allowed just one hit.

Jon Jay and Matt Adams each had two hits for the Cardinals, and catcher Yadier Molina doubled home two runs in the fourth and finished with three RBIs.

Veteran Jake Westbrook will make his spring debut on Thursday, when the Cardinals host the Marlins at Roger Dean Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 12:05 p.m. CT.
