The No. 1 ranked Cougar men’s basketball team closed out the 2012-13 regular season with a 74-69 road victory at William Woods (Mo.) University on Saturday afternoon in Fulton. With the win, Columbia completes the first undefeated regular season in program history with an overall record of 30-0 and a 16-0 mark in conference play. The Cougars also clinch their third consecutive American Midwest Conference (AMC) regular season championship with their 24th straight league win dating back to February 2nd, 2012.

The Cougars were led by Jordan Dressler with a game-high 19 points. Griffin and junior Derrick Dilworth also finished in double figures for Columbia with 18 points and 10 points, respectively.

Logan Decker and Blake Burgess each finished with 15 points to lead William Woods (13-16, 9-7 AMC).

Columbia will return to action on Thursday, February 28th to host the first round of the AMC postseason tournament as the tournament’s top seed. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Arena of Southwell Complex. Columbia will face the winner of the eighth and ninth seed play-in game that will take place on Tuesday.
