Rosenthal and Wacha will pitch in Cardinals first spring game on Saturday (AUDIO)

February 21, 2013 By Bill Pollock

Trevor Rosenthal, the Cardinals #4 prospect and Michael Wacha, the club’s #6 prospect, are scheduled to pitch in the Cardinals’ Grapefruit League opener against the Marlins on Saturday at 12:05 p.m. CT. Both pitchers will be limited to about 40 pitches, roughly two innings apiece.

Rosenthal threw 8.2 scoreless innings of relief during last year’s postseason run. Wacha, was the 19th overall pick in the 2012 First-Year Player Draft out of Texas A & M. Last year he climbed to Double-A before the end of the summer.

Manager Mike Matheny has not named any other pitchers for the game and he has not confirmed which position players will make an appearance in the Grapefruit League opener.
