Smith boys named MVPs of 49ers (AUDIO)

January 29, 2013 By Bill Pollock

All the hype of this year’s Super Bowl is around the head coaches, the Harbaugh brothers–Jim and John.  However, in Missouri, we’re following the stories of a brothers from another mother…I’m talking about Aldon and Justin Smith.

The former Mizzou defensive lineman turned linebacker, Aldon Smith of Raytown High School, was selected as the 49ers winner of the Bill Walsh MVP Award in a vote of the team’s coaches.  The other former Tigers defensive lineman, Justin Smith of Jefferson City, was voted the club’s MVP in a vote of the players.

Aldon Smith was the 49ers’ first-round pick in 2011 and set a club rookie sack record with 14 that season. This year, he set the franchise record with 19 this season, leading the NFC.  Justin Smith, who signed with the 49ers as an unrestricted free agent 2008, was voted to his fourth straight Pro Bowl this season .
