A Central Missouri couple that attempted to avoid arrest by both committing suicide are recovering, and are in custody.

Susan Koelling and Joseph Thompson of Osage County were stopped over the weekend and meth lab parts and drug paraphernalia were found in their car, but they were released with charges pending.

A trooper tried to arrest them on Monday and the two fled, and both slashed their throats. Koelling told deputies the couple had made a pact that they would attempt suicide if they were arrested.
