Members of a faith and labor coalition are sending a message to Missouri politicians to save vital government programs and end tax cuts on the wealthy.

Director of Grassroots Organizing coalition Robin Acree says she thinks it’s a good time to remind Missouri politicians to not cut vital government programs such as Medicare, Medicaid and social security, but that tax cuts should be created for the working middle class.

“And we want it done before Christmas. We don’t like it that they’re playing a political standoff,” she says. “We want to make sure that these vital programs such as social security, Medicare and Medicaid have no cuts and we’re looking at taxing the top two percent of the wealthiest Americans. They won’t even feel it.”

Acree says she hopes Democrats and Republicans can work together and put their partisan politics beside them. “The rest of us will feel it and that would create about a trillion dollars. So that would get us in a good place and we can move forward from there,” she says.

Acree says it’s important for Missouri politicians do what’s right for Missourians.
