After slow start, Mizzou picks up 30-point win

December 8, 2012 By Bill Pollock

Laurence Bowers, with his family in town to watch, scored a double-double with a game high 18 points and 10 rebounds and Alex Oriakhi added a double-double of 15 and 10 as the Tigers beat the Tigers of Tennessee State 68-38, Saturday afternoon at Mizzou Arena.

Bowers scored 17 of Mizzou’s 23 first half points as the Tigers led by three at the break. In the second half, the defense suffocated Tenn. St. holding them to 24% shooting, going 15 of 63 for the game.

Stefan Jankovic, who didn’t play in the first half, provided a big spark off the bench, scoring 14 points on 4 of 7 shooting including 2 of 5 from three-point range and going 4 for 4 from the line.
