Incumbent Republican Representative Blaine Luetkemeyer has won a third term, defeating Democrat Eric C. Mayer, a business owner.  Luetkemeyer will return to Washington representing the 3rd Congressional District after serving two terms in the 9th district.  In a statement following his projected victory Luetkemeyer had this to say:

“I want to thank the people of the new 3rd Congressional District for their overwhelming support and I look forward to continuing to serve as a commonsense, conservative voice in Washington D. C. and focusing on reducing out-of-control spending, holding the line on job-killing taxes and working to create jobs for our citizens. As a lifelong resident of the district, I share the same values of the hard-working folks of central and eastern Missouri and look forward to continuing to listen to their views, priorities and concerns. As always, I will spend the majority of my time back home in Missouri so I can best serve as a liaison between 3rd District families and their government in Washington, D.C.  I truly appreciate the solemn trust that I have once again been granted and I am looking forward to facing the tough challenges ahead on behalf of the people of the 3rd Congressional District.”
