Former Missouri Tiger Danario Alexander led all San Diego receivers in yards with 61 in the Chargers 31-13 win over the Chiefs. The one-time Rams receiver, cut at the beginning of the year, is trying to hang on and stay healthy with another NFL team.  Danario earned a chance to start after hamstring injuries to receivers Robert Meachem and Eddie Royal left them out of the game. Alexander started for Meachem.

According to Chargers.com, Danario said, “It was pretty exciting. Coach told me I was going to start and it was good running out of the tunnel when they introduced my name. It was kind of a surreal moment because I was out of football for a little bit.”

He caught three passes including a 30 yarder where he showed his explosive speed, beating his defender Travis Daniels on an inside move and taking off down the seam before finally being wrapped up.

“Danario Alexander was big catching the ball,” Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers said. “He’s big and strong. He’s physical after the catch.”
