Man uses cane as a weapon to rob gas stations in Kansas City

October 20, 2012 By Missourinet Contributor

A man wielding a cane robbed one gas station and attempted to rob two others Friday afternoon in Kansas City. The man made a purchase at a Phillips store and when the clerk opened the cash drawer the suspect pointed the cane at her and demanded money. He then jabbed her with the cane before she shut the drawer and retreated into the office. Police say the man jumped onto the counter and tried unsuccessfully to open the drawer before fleeing.

Police believe within minutes the same man tried to rob another Phillips store. Police say he also used a cane in that robbery.
