A line of severe thunderstorms swept across the state yesterday afternoon and evening. The storms left damage in parts of Missouri.

In eastern Missouri, high winds blew the roof off the post office in Bland and downed large trees near neighboring Owensville. Last evening more than 2,400 customers were without power in some St. Louis-area communities.

Three barns were damaged or destroyed in southwest Missouri near Pleasant Hope and northwest of Springfield a trailer was rolled over by winds estimated as high as 75 miles-an-hour.

The storms also delayed Cardinals baseball nearly 3-and-a-half-hours.
