After more than a decade of planning — and sometimes arguing — work begins on St. Louis’ Ballpark Village.

The state will chip in $17 million on the ten-acre project next to Bush Stadium. State and city subsidies could total more than $183 million if developers meet benchmarks on retail, office and residential space within the park.

So far, plans include a Cardinals Hall of Fame, Anheuser-Busch-themed restaurant, shops and an event plaza with a retractable roof to host concerts and other programs.
