Lance Lynn went 6.1 innings in making his second start since he was moved to the bullpen on Aug. 25, and allowed just three hits and two walks while striking out five as the Cardinals won for the seventh straight time over Houston 5-0.

David Freese and Yadier Molina both hit their 20th home runs of the season, giving the club five players with 20 or more homers for the first time in team history.

The Cardinals moved two games ahead of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the race for the second wild card in the National League. Milwaukee is 2 1-2 games back.
