The Kansas City Zoo is getting a penguin habitat.

Construction begins this week on the new $15 million project.

Crews will begin demolishing buildings this week to make room for it.

Zoo Director Randy Wisthoff says the Kansas City Zoo has never had penguins, but by the end of next year it will boast one of the best exhibits of its kind in the country, complete with a snow-making machine.

Three other aquariums will house coral reef fish, schooling fish and jellyfish.

Friends of the Zoo hopes to invest more than $100 dollars in the zoo over the next 10 years.
