Rasmussen: McCaskill six points up on Akin

September 12, 2012 By Jessica Machetta

Scott Rasmussen says the fallout appears to linger in the Missouri Senate race, with incumbent Democrat Claire McCaskill still holding a six-point lead over Republican challenger Todd Akin. But, he says, the race is tightening.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey finds McCaskill will 49 percent support to Akin’s 43 percent. Four percent prefer some other candidate in the contest, and another four percent are undecided, the poll shows.

The survey of 500 Likely Voters in Missouri was conducted on September 11, 2012 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 4.5 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.
