Royals tripped up in 10 innings

September 7, 2012 By Bill Pollock

Home runs by Jeff Francoeur and Eric Hosmer were not enough as the Royals dropped the final game of this four game set with the Texas Rangers, by a score of 5-4, Thursday night at Kauffman Stadium.

Former Missouri Tiger Ian Kinsler hit a leadoff triple in the 10th inning and scored on Michael Young’s single to give Texas the win.

Josh Hamilton and Adrian Beltre hit back-to-back homers in the fourth off Royals starter Luke Hochevar to help overcome a 3-0 deficit.

The Royals got on the board in the second on Francoeur’s 12th homer of the year. Alex Gordon tripled home Lorenzo Cain and scored on a Salvador Perez single in the third.

The Rangers took the lead in the top of the seventh, but Hosmer knotted the game up at 4-4 with his 13th homer in the bottom half of that inning.
