The St. Louis Rams were awarded RB Terrance Ganaway and DT Kellen Heard off waivers, the team announced Sunday. In addition, the Rams traded WR Greg Salas to the New England Patriots in exchange for an undisclosed selection in the 2015 NFL Draft. The team also released CB Jerome Murphy.

Ganaway (6-1, 240) was drafted by the New York Jets in the sixth round of the 2012 draft and spent this offseason with the Jets. As a senior at Baylor, Ganaway rushed for 1,547 yards and scored 21 touchdowns in 2011.

Heard (6-6, 339) entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Oakland Raiders in 2010, where he played for current Rams defensive line coach Mike Waufle. He signed with the Buffalo Bills late in his rookie season and appeared in 15 games with two starts in 2011. Heard began his collegiate career at Texas A&M before transferring to Memphis.

Salas was a fourth-round selection of the Rams in 2011. He caught 27 passes for 264 yards in six games before a leg injury cut his rookie season short.

Murphy was drafted by the Rams in the third round in 2010. He appeared in 14 games as a rookie but suffered an ankle injury in training camp that caused him to miss the entire 2011 campaign.
