Akin: In to win; not leaving ticket (AUDIO)

August 24, 2012 By [email protected]

Senate Candidate Todd Akin finishes his turbulent week with the announcement that all of the demands or suggestions that he abandon his campaign are wasted words.

                                  AUDIO: Akin :22

Akin’s late Friday afternoon news conference in St. Louis has come after five days of pressure from Republican leaders for him to leave the ballot because of his “legitimate rape” comments in an interview last weekend.  Akin says he will stand on his principles as he continues to challenge the re-election of Senator Claire McCaskill.

“I’ve been busy,” he says of his week that has seen him meeting with campaign consultants and organizations that continue to support him. He also has launched an online fund-raising effort.
