Adam Wainwright tied a career high with 12 strikeouts as he went the distance holding the Astros to just five hits as the Cardinals shutout Houston 7-0. Wainwright has won his last four decisions and the last time he gave up more than two earned runs was all the way back on July 13th. In his last four wins, he has given up just five hits in each outing and 31 strikeouts in 31 innings.

Wainwright (12-10) threw his second shutout and third complete game of the season. Two of the complete games have come during a string of six consecutive victories at home with a 1.42 ERA. Wainwright is 12-1 with a 1.58 ERA for his career against Houston.
