Hochevar, Hosmer help lift Royals over Rays

August 22, 2012 By Bill Pollock

Eric Hosmer’s two-out single in the 10th inning drove in the only run in the Royals’ 1-0 win that broke the Tampa Bay Rays’ five-game winning streak. Luke Hochevar and David Price were in a classic pitcher’s duel.  Price and Hochevar both pitched eight innings, giving up a combined four hits. Hochevar, the first overall pick in the 2006 amateur draft, gave up one hit and struck out 10. Price, the first overall pick in 2007, gave up three hits and struck out eight.
