The Red Sox, ranked 11th in the American League in ERA at 4.31, fired their pitching coach Bob McClure on Monday. McClure spent the previous six seasons as the Royals pitching coach. The Sox originally hired McClure as a special assistant for the club last November, before Bobby Valentine was named manager. Then, a month later, McClure was named pitching coach.
