After taking off two planned days to rest his shoulder, quarterback James Franklin was throwing again at practice and looked impressive, but it was the defense who won the day as the team inches closer to the first major scrimmage on Saturday morning.  In 11-on-11 scrimmaging, Franklin made two of his better throws to senior WR Gahn McGaffie, a 20-yard  pass down the middle and a well timed sideline pass for 12 yards on a 3rd-and-8 play against the #1 defense.

Near the end of the scrimmage, The #1 defense went up against the #2 offense and junior DT Sheldon Richardson and senior LB Will Ebner teammed up for a safety. A couple of plays later, Richardson got into the backfield again and wrapped up senior TB Jared McGriff-Culver for a loss.  The #1 offense took on the #2 defense, and moved the ball as senior TB Kendial Lawrence ran tough up the middle for a 5-yard gain, and then Franklin hit sophomore TB Marcus Murphy on a swing pass for a nice gainer of around 8 yards. Murphy next hit a gain for 5 yards to score another point for the offense.

At the end of 11-on-11, it was good on good, and the defense stuffed a couple of runs for little to no gain, to wrap up the win.
