CNN reports one person is dead and several others are seriously or critically injured after the crash of a bus out of Chicago with scheduled stops in St. Louis, Columbia and Kansas City.
The charter, double-decker bus struck a bridge support on Interstate 55 a few miles north of Litchfield and south of Springfield. 81 people had tickets for the trip. At least 23 have been reported injured so far.
Passengers told St. Louis television station KMOV that a tire blew out before the bus plowed into the concrete pillar.
