New details in double homicide case implicate man held on drug charges

July 19, 2012 By Jessica Machetta

A Southwest Missouri man is placed near a crime scene where the bodies of Becky and Rusty Porter of Willard were found. Newly unsealed court records reveal what Greene County deputies found in the first few weeks of the Becky and Rusty Porter murder investigation.

The Springfield News-Leader says deputies believe 44-year-old Tony Friend was near the heavily wooded area where the Porter’s remains were found. A Greene County jail inmate told detectives he heard Friend say he killed the couple. Detectives also found a surgical knife, shotgun rounds, and a hand grenade inside Friend’s briefcase. Friend has not been charged with the murders. He’s being held on an unrelated drug charge.
