Cardinals can’t crack Brewers bullpen

July 18, 2012 By Bill Pollock

The Milwaukee bullpen made it interesting again. Francisco Rodriquez picked up his 293rd career save after walking in a run with the bases loaded, but he got Lance Berkman to fly out to left ending with a 4-3 loss for the Cardinals.

St. Louis drew ten walks, but couldn’t take advantage of the free passes. Adam Wainwright started and was charged with four runs in the first inning. Two of those runs came in on errors from Rafael Furcal and Lance Berkman on one play. Wainwright settled down and struck out nine.

Lee’s Summit native Trevor Rosenthal pitched the eighth and walked two and struck out two, topping out at 100 mph on the radar gun.
