Bowe, Chiefs can’t come to terms on new deal

July 17, 2012 By Bill Pollock

The deadline for NFL teams to sign their franchised players to a long-term contract passed and no deal was cut between the Kansas City Chiefs and wide receiver Dwayne Bowe, who remains unsigned.  If Bowe is going to play this season, and all indications point to him showing up to training camp, he will do so under the franchise tag which is estimated to be around $9.5 million for wide receivers this season.

The Chiefs may be banking on second year receiver Jonathan Baldwin stepping up and becoming the eventual number one receiver.  The Chiefs still have the option of using  the franchise tag on Bowe next season, but OL Branden Albert, DL Glenn Dorsey, P Dustin Colquitt and LBs Jovan Belcher and Brandon Siler are all franchise tag eligible.
