Red and grey turf of Lindenwood University-Belleville.  TheSouthern.com

A giant peppermint. That’s the best way I can describe the Lindenwood University-Belleville football field. The school in Belleville, IL is entering NAIA play for the first year and wanted to do something unique. Well, this is unique and one of the pieces to a $2.3 million upgrade to an old high school football stadium.

You know about Boise State’s Smurf Turf. You may even know about Eastern Washington’s Sea of Red. However, is this going a bit overboard? I’m not sure yet.  If you’d like to see this with your own eyes, two Missouri schools, who play NAIA football, will make trips across the MO-IL border to play the Lynx. Avila University, out of Kansas City, will play the first ever game on the turf on September 1st and Central Methodist heads over on September 29th.
