Cardinals starter Lance Lynn pitched six shutout innings, and Matt Holliday and Carlos Beltran drove in a pair of runs apiece to lead the Cardinals to a 6-2 win over the Colorado Rockies on Thursday night.
Lynn improved to 11-4 after three straight bad starts. Thursday, he allowed four hits and struck out seven in winning for the first time since June 13. Lynn, voted to the All-Star team by his fellow players, was 0-2 with a 9.98 ERA in his three previous starts.
The Cardinals won for the fourth time in five games, and 11 of 14 against Colorado. Holliday continued to lead the team offensively with a run-scoring groundout in the first and a bases-loaded single in the fifth off Colorado starter Christian Friedrich who gave up all six earned runs in 4.3 innings. Holliday, who has an RBI in each of his last six games, is 34 for 68 with four homers and 21 RBIs in his last 18 games.
