Liberty Fireworks in Rockport last year turned out to be a real dud. Owner John Peterson says sales at his usually busy stand were like a ghost town after Missouri River flooding closed I-29 and Highway 136 right before the Fourth of July holiday. Many people in Nebraska and Iowa make the annual trip to Rockport to buy fireworks. But Peterson says the sizzle is back in fireworks sales in Rockport and business is back. He says cars with Nebraska and Iowa plates once again are filling his parking lot.
