KC continues with street-car plans

June 20, 2012 By admin

Kansas City officials including Mayor Sly James say they will press on with efforts to bring a downtown street-car plan to the City, despite losing out on a $25 million federal grant. James tells the Kansas City Star, federal transportation officials were impressed with Kansas City’s grant application but saw other cities as being further along with their street-car plans, and having more local funds in place. Kansas City is trying to collect local funding to help support the project, which would cost an estimated $100 million for a rail system from River Market to Crown Center.
