Fire Marshal: Bad year for fireworks

State Fire Marshal Randy Cole says firework displays put on by professionals are the safest way to enjoy fireworks, and extremely dry conditions this year are making backyard fireworks even more risky. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, May 2012 was one of the driest Mays on record for Missouri. That mixed with record high temperatures has resulted in an elevated fire risk.
