Life sentences for two women in six year old murder case

June 18, 2012 By Mike Lear

A former school superintendent and an acquaintance have been sentenced to life in prison on conspiracy charges and murder-for-hire in the death of the former school official’s husband.

Elain Kay Young (left) and Katherine Mock

Elain Kay Young of Novinger and Katherine Mock of Cassville were convicted in March of the murder of Young’s husband, Melvin Griesbauer of Novinger in March, 2006 so that Young could collect on his insurance policies.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Young recruited Mock, and Mock attempted to bring other people into the plan to commit the murder.

Young is a former superintendent at the Callao School District in north-central Missouri.
