Teen to stand trial as adult for murder of his sister

June 14, 2012 By Mary Furness

A 15-year-old boy is facing trial as an adult for the shooting death of his half-sister in March.

A judge has ruled that Levi Elliott should be tried in circuit court for shooting 12-year-old Sierra Elliott while the two were alone at a home in Bolivar. Levi Elliott was initially charged in juvenile court but juvenile prosecutors moved for him to be tried as an adult.

The Polk Co. prosecutor is anticipated to file charges against him including second degree murder, today.
