Valley Park mayor in hospital following fracas with police

June 8, 2012 By Jessica Machetta

The lawyer for Valley Park mayor Nathan Grellner says Grellner has checked himself into a hospital suffering from “exhaustion.”

The check-in comes a couple of days after a confrontation between Grellner and police in the Jefferson County town of Byrnes Mills. Police say Grellner drove away from a traffic stop for speeding and fought with police who arrested him after he drove down a dead-end street.

Investigators are waiting for toxicology reports.

Grellner has not attended a board of alderman meeting since February.
