The state commission that considers discipline actions against lawyers and judges will hold a hearing next month on St. Louis circuit judge Barbara Peebles, who vacationed in China while her clerks reportedly handled at least 350 cases.
The St. Louis Post Dispatch had reported last year that the clerks dismissed five cases, postponed more than 300, and refused to dismiss at least one case.
A criminal investigation also is underway into a missing document from a public defender who criticized the clerks’ actions.
