Tyler Greene’s two run homer in the bottom of the eighth rallied the Cardinals to a 4-3 win over the San Diego Padres and snapped a four game losing streak. A pitcher’s duel until the late innings, when the Cardinals had to battle from being down twice to pull this one out.

The Cardinals trailed 1-0 heading into the seventh after Jaime Garcia allowed just one run in seven-plus innings pitched. The Cards were able to go on top in the bottom of the inning chasing starter Clayton Richard by scoring two on a single by Rafael Furcal and ground out by Matt Carpenter.

San Diego grabbed a 3-2 lead in the eighth on a double by Jesus Guzman. With two outs in the bottom of the inning, Greene took reliever Andrew Cashner deep scoring Yadier Molina who singled earlier in the inning to put the Cards on top.

Jason Motte, who picked up a blown save, also got credit for the win.
