Adam Jones hit a home run off Royals reliever Nick Adcock in the 15th inning to break a 3-3 tie and give the Baltimore Orioles a 4-3 win Wednesday night at Kauffman Stadium. The loss snapped a Royals four game win streak.

The Royals bullpen had a 1.04 ERA in the past seven games, but relievers Kelvin Herrera and Jonathan Broxton gave up three runs on six hits in the eighth and ninth innings, allowing Baltimore to tie the game.

Broxton came on in the ninth, but blew his second save in 10 tries when he gave up a solo homer to former Royal Wilson Betemit. Then with two outs, J.J. Hardy’s single up the middle scored pinch-runner Ryan Flaherty just ahead of the tag at home to tie the game.

Humberto Quintero’s two-out single in the fifth scored Jeff Francoeur and Alcides Escobar. Alex Gordon’s two-out double in the eighth scored Mitch Maier to give the Royals a 3-1 lead.
