Central Methodist softball wins first game of pool play at NAIA championships

May 17, 2012 By Bill Pollock

The Central Methodist Eagles softball team from Fayette, MO. won their opening game of pool at the NAIA national championships in Gulf Shores, AL, beating Houston-Victoria 2-0 on Thursday afternoon.  Kelsey Johnley reached on a bunt single and scored after the left fielder mishandled a double down the line from Kayla Yount. Rebecca Lipsey would double two batters later in the two-run fourth inning.

Aubrey Utley allowed seven hits and struck out five as she went the distance for the win. CMU plays Friday at 12:30 against William-Carey.
