Hartzler’s district a little bluer than before

May 12, 2012 By admin

Missouri’s West Central Congressional District is a little bluer than before thanks to redistricting … and that’s put it on a national watch list. The Washington Post says in addition, a wave of retirements puts some previously safe seats into play. When Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler beat out Democrat Ike Skelton in 2010, The Post says it seemed unlikely that a Democrat would ever hold such conservative territory again. But Hartzler’s 4th district gained more democrats in the redistricting process and, The Columbia Tribune reports that she’s been outraised in campaign contributions by Democratic opponent, Cass County Prosecuting Attorney Teresa Hensley.
