Southeast Missouri State’s Kenton Parmley saw his 47 game hitting streak end on Sunday after going 0 for 3 in a game against Tennessee Tech in Cape Girardeau. Parmley’s streak is tied for the third longest in NCAA Division I history.

Parmley tied Phil Stephenson of Wichita State in 1981 at 47 games. Florida International’s Garrett Wittels hit in 56 games in 2010, one behind the D-I record of 58 set in 1987 by Chicago White Sox manager Robin Ventura at Oklahoma State.  Parmley is hitting .402 this season and has reached base safely in 57 consecutive games after he was hit by a pitch in Sunday’s game.
