A soldier from Lawson wounded in combat has gotten his Purple Heart — 67 years after a land mine in Germany left him with three fractured vertebra. But a clerical error kept him from getting his medal. Some time ago the service officer for the Lawson VFW post was helping Allen Stevens fill out a form for some benefit claims and learned Stevens had never gotten his medal. He got it this weekend from former Congressman Ike Skelton, who once  was the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee.
