State Congressman faces million-dollar lawsuit over delinquent loan

Congressman Emanuel Cleaver and his wife are facing a $1.5 million lawsuit from a Kansas city Bank that says they have not repaid a loan to buy a car wash. The Bank of America says Cleaver’s company continues to refuse to pay the loan, which was made in 2002. Cleaver says outside management has run the business for several years. The bank says Cleaver and his wife guaranteed the loan
